Travel and blogging and conferences, oh my

Friday, April 22nd, 2005

During the month of March, I traveled every week. I went to four cities I'd never been to before: Detroit, Columbus, Kansas City, MO, and Grand Rapids. It was fun - one of the highlights of my job is that I get to see new places that I probably wouldn't see normally. A highlight: it was a busy travel week in Grand Rapids the last week of March, and there were no available flights out of GRR for a few days, so I took Amtrak to Chicago and flew home from there. I had forgotten how much I enjoy train travel. The route scoots around the bottom of Lake Michigan and is a pleasant ride.

I've been home a bit more in April, working on presentations, for both internal and external reasons. I'm pretty excited about the sessions I'm doing for the View - both are on performance monitoring and tuning, one on clustering and one on Domino on Linux. They turned out great and I can't wait to deliver them at the conference in May.

I'll be in Pittsburgh this coming week - thinking of going to a baseball game on Monday night, so any readers in the Pittsburgh area that like baseball should let me know if they want to go. After that, I'll be on holiday for a couple of weeks. I'm debating whether I'll bring a laptop with me - if I do, it will more than likely not be the work laptop - so posting may be sporadic (big surprise) while I'm out of town.

And, finally, Mr. Lepofsky has informed me and my colleague Susan that there's a need for admin tips in a similar vein as his Notes client-related tips, so we're going to step up to the plate and deliver them to you. I'll plan on queueing up some posts and maybe asking my helpful blog host to change them from draft to published while I'm gone.

So, any particular administration-related topics you'd like to see covered? Let me know in the comments.
