Lotusphere 2006 Highlights - so far
Wednesday, January 25th, 2006
As I sit here thinking about all of the great sessions I've seen and people I've talked to here at Lotusphere, I can't decide whether I can't believe it's already Wednesday or if I can't believe it's only Wednesday. This year at Lotusphere has been so packed with content already that it's almost surreal to think that there are still two full days of content ahead of us. On the other hand, I'm enjoying my time with my fellow speakers, Lotusphere staff, and attendees so much that I don't want it to end.Because I'm a track manager, meaning that I'm responsible for choosing some of the sessions at Lotusphere, I've been especially interested in what attendees think this year. Overwhelmingly, everyone I've spoken to is having a great time, their only dilemma being that there are so many good sessions to choose from that it's hard to make a decision which to attend! Many attendees I've spoken with have told me that they've learned a lot already and are looking forward to soaking in more information throughout the week, and that they're loving the evening events too. When I ask what their favorite thing about Lotusphere '06 is, the two things I keep hearing over and over are: BootCamp and JamFest. Both are new for Lotusphere '06 and I'm happy to report that they are big hits!
Session highlights for Wednesday: Ed's always popular sessions: ID401 - The Boss Loves Microsoft: Where Does That Leave Lotus? and ID120 - How to "Sell" IBM Lotus Notes and Domino Inside Your Organization. The former is 10-11 AM and the latter is at 1:30-2:30 PM, both in the Dolphin.
Also, be sure to check out Paul Mooney and Wild Bill Buchan's session: BP106 - Worst Practices in IBM Lotus Domino - Learning From the Mistakes of Others. I had the pleasure of Paul's company at lunch yesterday, and the dubious honor of being distracted by the crazy Scotsman in a kilt while talking with Libby of LotusUserGroup.org on Monday, and I know their session will be not only informative, but very, very entertaining. They're on at 8:30 this morning in the Dolphin, with a repeat Thursday at 8:30 (which I'll be attending, since I'm speaking this morning) in the Swan.
And, last but not least, in the shameless self-promotion department, I'm delivering two sessions today with my esteemed colleague Susan: HND102 - Domino Domain Monitoring Hands-On. It's actually one session, but it's being repeated in the afternoon. It's in Swan Osprey 2, right next door to my colleagues Rob Gearhart and Elliott Harden, who will be delivering their presentation HND101 - A Hands-On Guide to IBM Lotus Domino Server Troubleshooting and Crash Analysis. Both hands-on sessions will be from 8:30-10:15 AM with a repeat from 2:30-4:15 PM. We intend to have an applause war with our neighbors, so please drop by and join in. After all that excitement, we'll be rounding out the day by facilitating MTG607 - AdminP in Lotus Domino, in Swan Dove, and then heading on over to the Lotusphere party at Sea World.
Whew! Wednesday is a busy day! Stay tuned for more updates tomorrow, especially from the closing general session - there are some great things to be announced there and I'll make every attempt to liveblog them.
